The Pet Training interface.
Training is a way to improve your pets and change their base characteristics by combining them with certain items. Just talk to the Pet Master (either Pet Master Ellan in Sunstream City or Pet Master Eikon in Dragon Palace in the Divine Realm) and select "Pet Training".
This opens a window that shows all of your pet's stats and gives you options to upgrade your pet. To begin, drag a pet from your bag to the top left corner of the Pet Training window, onto the orange arrows.
Using The Interface
The Pet Training window has a number of buttons that allow you to upgrade some aspect of your pet. In most cases, these buttons will also offer you the opportunity to buy the items needed to upgrade your pet.
Rename
The rename button is located on the top left, next to your pet's name. For 10 gold, you can change your pet's name.
Star Sign
Your pet's Star Sign affects its maximum stats and the skills it can learn. To reset your pet's Star Sign, you will need a Menggu Relic from the Marketplace, and your pet will need to be below Grade 5.
Pet Soul
Pet Souls are purchased from the Marketplace, and will change your pet's appearance to look like a different pet. Additionally, once your pet has reached the appropriate grades, you can use Blue Mushrooms, Colorful Mushrooms, and Gem Mushrooms to change your pet's appearance. You can also use Red Mushrooms to revert the effects of the other mushrooms.
You can buy these Mushrooms from the Pet Master's Pet Shop and Item Exchange.
Title Skill
Your pet's Title will grant it a special skill. Using a Transmigration Flag, you will be able to randomly change your pet's Title. These flags are sold in the Title Skill window.
Cost: 1 Eera Herb, 2 Red Mushrooms
Specialty
Your pet's Specialty will improve some of its skills, depending on the specialty. You can randomly change your pet's Specialty with the Specialty Potion, sold in the Specialty window.
Cost: 20 Sunny Jade
Fi. Spirit
Fighting Spirit improves your pet's Max Attack and Defense. In order to increase your pet's Fighting Spirit, you will need Dragonfang Herbs, which are sold in the Fi. Spirit window.
Cost: 2 Celebeans OR 10 Sunny Jade
For a bigger boost to Fighting Spirit, you can use Dragon Dance Herbs, which are also sold in the Fi. Spirit window.
Cost: 40 Dragonfang Herbs, 2 Crystal Emeralds
You can see your pet's Fighting Spirit by hovering your mouse over the yellow ! symbol on the bottom right of the Pet Training window.
Myna
Myna are Affinity items that give temporary bonuses to your pet. You can either improve your pet's Attack or Defense. The amount of the bonus depends on both your Affinity level and the Grade of your pet.
If you have Rough Myna Orbs, you can exchange them in this window for Myna you can use with your pet. It will cost a different amount of Red Mushrooms depending on the quality of Rough Myna Orbs that you are using.
Trait
Your pet's Trait attribute has greater Growth than other attributes. Additionally, whichever Trait your pet has is the type of pet jade you'll receive for Releasing the pet.
Using a Body Strengthen Potion, sold in this window, will randomly change your pet's Trait. Your pet's current Growths will not be changed.
Cost: 50 Sunny Jade
Pet Age
Your pet's Age/Life determines how long it will live. If your pet's Age reaches the maximum value, the pet will die and cannot be summoned again until its Age is reduced, or its maximum value is increased.
You can buy Age reducing items and Life increasing items in the Pet Master's Pet Shop.
Pet Growth
Error creating thumbnail: File seems to be missing: /perfectworld/vhosts/jd-wiki.perfectworld/htdocs/images/4/4c/PetGrowthWindow.jpg
Pet Growth determines your pet's stats. The higher the Growth, the better your pet's stats will be. Additionally, the higher your pet's Growth, the higher Grade your pet will be. At high Grades, you will be able to evolve your pet's appearance.
Every stat your pet has also has a "growth" stat associated with it. This stat is what determines how high your pet's stats are at a given level. All of these growth stats add together to determine your pet's Grade.
To upgrade your pet's Growth, you will need either Pet Jade or Celebeans.
In the Pet Growth window, click on the type of jade you would like to use. You can either click on the arrow buttons to select how many times you would like to try and train with that type of pet jade, or click on the Max button to use all of your pet jade of that type.
Once you have selected the number of attempts, click on the Confirm button to begin training your pet.
Be aware that training can fail. When training succeeds, the growth will increase by the full amount, but when it fails, the growth will only increase by a few points, if it increases at all. The higher the growth, the higher the chances that it will fail.
If you raise all of your pet's growths evenly, your pet can reach a higher grade (and therefore, evolve) more quickly, but it will be weaker in combat than if you just focused on the more useful stats exclusively.
Pet Jade
Pet Jade can be earned by Releasing pets.
When releasing pets, such as the ones from the Free Lunch quest, you are given Pet Jade in return. The number and quality of jades given depend on the Grade of the pet you are releasing. Free Lunch pets are always Grade 1, and will always reward Jade Pieces, but higher grade pets can give much better pieces. Keep in mind that a pet must be level 30 before you can release it, and once you release a pet, it will be gone forever. The pet's Trait determines what kind of Pet Jade you receive.
Different types of pet jade raise different stats:
- Bloodspirit = Health
- Glory = Spirit
- Dragon = Min Attack
- Imperial = Max Attack
- Tortoise = Defense
- Heaveneye = Accuracy
- Windwhirl = Evasion
- Tiger = Stun Resistance
- Bear = Weaken Resistance
- Flyshadow = Silence Resistance
- Windsong = Sleep Resistance
- Serpent = Paralyze Resistance
There are also several ranks of pet jades:
- Piece: Increases by up to 10. Cannot be used on Grade 8 or above pets.
- Minor: Increases by up to 20. Cannot be used on Grade 12 or above pets.
- Normal: Increases by up to 40 points. Cannot be used on Grade 18 or above pets.
- Improved: Increases by up to 100 points. Can be used on pets of any Grade.
Expand Skill
You can add one additional skill to your pet using Pet Skill Jades and Snowland Ginseng. You will only be able to do this once per pet. The maximum number of skills a pet can have is six, so if your pet already has six skills you will not be able to use this option.
You can purchase Snowland Ginseng in this window.
Cost: 588 Sunny Jade, 5 Welkin Red Jade
Pet Skill
You can use Pet Skill Jades to randomly replace old skills with new skills, and upgrade skills.
Advanced Pet Skill Jades can be purchased in this window.
Cost: History of Domestication (available in the Pet Master's Item Exchange)
You can also get random Pet Skill Jades from the Pet Master's Pet Shop.
