Refining

A lot of equipment in Jade Dynasty can be improved by treating it with the proper talismans. This process is called Refinery and it is performed at the local Enchanter. The equipment includes armor pieces, weaponry, and other accessories. Refining an item will increase its main stats (e.g., Attack on weapons, Defense on armors). The improvement of the item increases exponentially with the refinery level. Certain gear pieces will even unlock special bonus stats upon reaching a specific level of refinery (e.g., an additional increase in HP upon reaching refinery level +5).

The higher your enlightenment and level, the harder it will become to survive the monsters and bosses you will encounter. Therefore, the refining of your equipment will become a necessity.

Refining Example

Refining weapons will increase their Attack value.
Refining armors will increase their Defense value.
Refining boots will increase their Health value.
Refining helmets will increase their Spirit value.

Keep in mind: The refinery process does not have a 100% chance of success! This chance will decrease substantially with every refinery level (e.g., successfully refining a +2 gear piece is a lot easier than refining a +7 piece). Failing a refinery attempt will irrevocably destroy your piece of equipment. However, if you use the proper auxiliary items, you can guarantee the survival of your equipment, and even guarantee a successful outcome. Certain items can also positively influence the chance of success. The auxiliary items are:

  • Sigils: These items guarantee a successful refinery. There are sigils for almost every level of refinery. E.g., a bronze sigil will guarantee the refinement of any item that has a current refinery level of +4 or below. A dragon sigil will provide this guarantee for refinery levels up to +8. Sigils can be obtained via the Marketplace.
  • Serenity Jades: These jades will prevent the destruction of your gear piece should you fail a refinery attempt. They do not influence the chance of success. Serenity jades can be obtained via the Marketplace.
  • Star Charms: These items will increase the chance of success by 15%. However, should the attempt fail, you will lose your piece of equipment. Another variant is called the cascade charm (20% increase of success). Star charms can be obtained via the Marketplace. Cascade charms can be found in specific lottery boxes that require Tanis Ka charms to open.

Apart from refining, the Enchanter will also offer to Imbue your gear. This process is similar to Refinery and will enchant your equipment with specific stats. This stat is determined by the talisman you choose to treat your equipment with. The advantage of imbuing is that failing an attempt will not destroy your gear, nor will it affect your refinement.

How to Refine

RefineMenu

To Refine a piece of gear, you will need to visit the local Enchanter:

  • Speak to the Enchanter and select "Refine/Imbue".
  • The gear you would like to refine should be placed in the "Gear" slot.
  • The proper talisman should be placed in the "Talisman" slot:
    • Normal gear: Refinery Talisman
    • Ethereal/Celestial gear: Talisman of Craft
    • Deity gear: Dragonsoul Charm
    • Divine gear: Mystic Charm
  • Auxiliary materials such as Serenity Jades, Star Charms, or Sigils need to be placed in the "Aux" slot.
  • Finally, select the "Start" button and wait for the results.

Tips

  • Multiple lower level sigils can be traded for higher level ones. To do this, visit the local Enchanter or Taisung the Tao in Jadeon.
  • It is recommended to refine your gear first, and then add imbues. That way, you don't have to worry about losing all the hard work and talismans you spent to get a high imbue level.

Glows

Refined items all glow, but the glows are different and hard to predict. The following table documents all the common item glows.
