Enlightenment is the process that allows characters to become stronger. Your enlightenment is measured by your tier. In order to gain enlightenment and go up a tier, you must be the appropriate level. Each faction has five tiers, from Tier 1 to Tier 5. As you progress in your enlightenment and gain tiers, you become stronger and tougher.

Humans start as Initiates and can choose their faction at level 15. Athan characters pick their faction at character creation. Everyone starts out as Tier 1 in their chosen faction.

• Tier 1: Level 15 (human) or on Character creation (Athan)
• Tier 2: Level 45
• Tier 3: Level 75
• Tier 4: Level 105
• Tier 5: Level 135

When you reach the appropriate level, a Carrier Pigeon quest will appear in your quest log. This is the starting point of your Tier quest.

Human Faction NPCs

Tier 1

Human factions, upon reaching level 15, should speak to Tanis Ka in Sunstream City. Defeat a Chi Beast to show your capability. Return to Tanis Ka and declare your intention to join one of the six human factions.

Athans automatically start at Tier 1.

Vim

If you decide to join the Vim faction, you will get a quest to slaughter 50 Moaning Harpies (-288, 378) within the ruins of the Grasstemple Village in Sunstream to demonstrate your ability to carry out tasks without question or hesitation. Return to Meri Koon in Sunstream City (98, 140) once the deed is done and you will be welcomed into the Vim.

Lupin

If you decide to join the Lupin faction, you will get a quest to destroy the Wraith Wench located in the Seat of Dragons in Sunstream (-384, 12). Return to Jin Parto in Sunstream City to join the Lupin (188, 50).

Jadeon

If you decide to join the Jadeon faction, you will get a quest to prove yourself to the Jadeon by slaying 6 Ebony Monkeys within the Peak of Widows (60, 0). Speak with Enu within the temple atop the Crystal Hall (124, 230) in Jadeon and join the ranks of the sword masters.

Skysong

If you decide to join the Skysong faction, you will get a quest to speak with Faji in Sunstream City (180, 155). Answer his question correctly and the trial will begin. The Skysong seek to rid the world of suffering. In order to prove your compassion and selflessness, return to Faji and donate 5 Silver to their cause. Answer Faji's final question correctly and you will be welcomed into the order of the Skysong.

Modo

If you decide to join the Modo faction, you will get a quest to speak with Tonni in Sunstream City (155, 144) to discover the location of Mr. Gho, the Modo Master. Traverse the decaying swamps of the Doom Bog to reach Mr. Gho (7, -77). Speak with Mr. Gho and answer his question to justify your reasoning behind wanting to join the Modo.

Incense Mage

If you decide to join the Incense Mage faction, you will get a quest to speak to Yan Taila in Sunstream City, who will give you a quest to kill 24 Zaaras Disciples within 2 hours.

Athan Factions

Athans automatically start at Tier 1.

Tier 2

Upon reaching level 45, speak with the NPC corresponding to your faction.

Vim

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Meri Koon in Sunstream City. Eradicate 50 Toxic Webspinners near the Lunar Well in The Billows (-356, 246). Speak with Meri Koon in Sunstream City and be granted the knowledge of the Vim elders.

Lupin

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Jin Parto in Sunstream City (188, 50). In order to advance within the ranks of the Lupin, you must pay Jin Parto 1 Gold and pass a test to prove your knowledge of the world. Upon successful completion of the test, you will be promoted to the next skill tier. Note: Choosing the incorrect answer does not fail the quest, you must simply start the questions over again.

Jadeon

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Enu within the temple atop the Crystal Hall. Within 20 minutes, slaughter 250 Mountain Boars outside of Sunstream City. Return to Enu within the time allotted and you will be allowed to advance one rank within the order of the Jadeon.

Skysong

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Fazzan in the Skysong Temple (-150, -120). Donate 2 of each Yellaflora Wood, Copper Ore, Vilreflecta Herb, and Greewond Jasper Provisions to aid in the battle against the Yasho. Supply Fazzan with the items he requests and he will impart on you the knowledge needed in order to progress to the next rank within the order.

Modo

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Mr. Gho in the Doom Bog. Locate the Cursed Corsair (-4, -164) within the Surging Stockade in The Billows, and execute him. Return to Mr. Gho in the Doom Bog to advance within the ranks of the Modo.

Incense Mage

Talk to Yan Taila in Sunstream City. Collect 3 Holy Flames in Jadeon near the Temple of Zaaras. Go talk to Yan Talia again.

Balo

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Zazu within the Scarlet City of the Divine Realm (487, 103). Defeat 20 Riptide Pirates at the Surging Stockade (-35, -179) of The Billows. Having proven yourself worthy, return to Zazu in the Scarlet City.

Arden

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Zorio (306, -360) near the Dragon Palace within the Divine Realm. Obtain one Shield, Sharpness, and Lifeblood Talisman. Return to Zorio and present him with the items.

Rayan

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Zero in the Divine Realm (227, -418). Kill your Target in the Surging Stockade (-27, -203) of the Billows. Having proven yourself worthy, return to Zero in the Divine Realm.

Celan

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Bai in the Divine Realm (318, -400). Travel to the Rockpile Reserve in the Billows and locate some Lunar Grass (-211, -253). Hurry back to Bai in the Divine Realm. If you take too long returning, you will fail the test.

Voida

Upon reaching level 45, speak with Rego Khan in the Divine Realm (302, -354). Travel to the Billows and speak with Ji Cang (-315, 92). You will receive the Illusion Star and the Illusion Aroma skills. In 30 minutes, kill the Flame Morpher (-453, 201) and the Nether Morpher (-453, 190) at the Futan Altar. Use Illusion Star against the Nether Morpher, and Illusion Aroma against the Flame Morpher. Return back to Ji Cang. You will then be teleported back to Rego Khan to finish the quest.

Tier 3

Upon reaching level 75, speak with the NPC corresponding to your faction.

In order to prove yourself worthy of further training, you must speak with Tanis Ka in Sunstream City (160, 145). Tanis Ka does not offer the information freely and requests that you pay him 5 Gold for the knowledge he possesses. He will send you to speak with either Wango Yinh in The Billows (218, 408) or Weikoch outside of the Skysong Temple (-250, -35) and offer them your assistance.

Note: Not agreeing to either Wango Yinh or Weikoch's request can cause the quest to fail - at which point you must pay an additional 5 Gold to Tanis Ka to begin again.

You will be tasked to do one of the following:

• Defeat 50 Wild Wolves outside of Sunstream City (50, -50).
• Defeat 50 Butterfly surrounding Sunstream City (175, 5).
• Defeat 50 Monkey Phantasms near the Valley of Abandon in Jadeon (230, -140).

After doing this, travel to the Cynical Dialectian in The Billows (120, 0) and speak with him.

An unusual and powerful item is needed in order to prove yourself worthy of the knowledge - a Yasho Essence Orb.

To acquire this, you'll have to either:

• Slay 30 Savage Slitherers outside of the Wildlands Sanctuary (20, 60).
• Obtain 1 Lifeblood, Spirit and Focus Talismans and give them to Doc Dread near the entrance to the Wildlands in Doom Bog.
• Speak with Uncle Bozo outside of the Crystal Hall in Jadeon (165, 245).

Return to the Special Ops Agent in Sunstream City (215, 160) and present him with the Yasho Essence Orb.

Tier 4

Upon reaching level 105, speak with the NPC corresponding to your faction.

Visit the Elder of Mystery at the Immortal's Outlook in Sunstream City (240, 285). Answer the question posed by the Elder of Mystery. Depending on your answer, you'll have to do one of the following:

• Within 30 minutes, defeat 5 of each of Finslit Aquadin, Redtail Wanderer, and Four Eyed Terror.
• Within 30 minutes, defeat 50 of each of Finslit Aquadin, Redtail Wanderer, and Four Eyed Terror.

Speak with Senz at the Patriot Monolith in The Billows (126, 384).

Return to the Elder of Mystery and answer his next set of questions. Defeat the Emissary of Ghosts outside of the Righteous Manor in Sunstream (428, 142).

Depending on your answer to the Elder of Mystery, you may then have to prove your understanding of life and death - by dying.

Return to the Elder of Mystery and answer his next set of questions. Depending on your answer, you'll have to do one of the following:

• Collect 3 Mystic Bluewonder Stones and 3 Whitespirit Stones and give them to Old Leng in Sunstream City (125, 45).
• Collect 1 Mystic Bluewonder Stone and 1 Whitespirit Stone and give them to Old Leng in Sunstream City.

Return to the Elder of Mystery and answer his next set of questions. Depending on your answer, you'll have to do one of the following:

• Defeat Bewitching Orchids in Incense Valley and collect 10 Affection Flowers.
• Defeat Bewitching Orchids in Incense Valley and collect 1 Affection Flower.

You'll deliver these flowers to either Anan in Jadeon (405, -195), or Negar in Sunstream (91, 141).

Return to the Elder of Mystery and answer his next set of questions. Depending on your answer, you'll have to do one of the following:

• Defeat the Elysium Executioner in Sunstream near the Epitaph Mountain (416, -268).
• Defeat the Elysium Sentry in Sunstream near the Fountainhead Hollows (56, 110).

Having completed the final trial, return to the NPC corresponding to your faction to receive your well-earned reward.

Tier 5

Upon reaching level 135, speak with your corresponding NPC. Visit the Elder of Mystery at the Immortal's Outlook in Sunstream City (240, 285).

Fast As Wind

Within 10 minutes, you must reach a number of NPCs, one after another, within the Kunlun Mountains and Shura. It's suggested that you go to at least the first four locations beforehand and set Portal Charms before starting the quest, as the NPCs are spread out and 10 minutes will not be enough time to walk the distance. With the implementation of a new system, you can now teleport to the NPCs directly without setting Portal Charms beforehand by clicking on the Portal Charm icon beside NPC's name in the quest log "Q", provided that you have Portal Charms in your bag. If you fail the quest you will have to wait until the next day to re-take it.

• Brishen within the Spirit Grove (Kunlun 140, -430)
• Mufi atop Mount Gunyu (Kunlun 280, 166).
• General Camlo at the Paramount Valley (Kunlun 108, 404).
• Lord Lushan along the Path of the Righteous (Shura 420, -200).
• Wraither inside of Eternal Bliss (Shura -12, 22).
• Kowilo in the outskirts of the Floating Path of Hell (Shura -20, -190).

Upon completion of the task, you will be automatically teleported back to the Elder of Mystery. Speak with him to obtain your next trial.

Tranquility

Travel to Jadeon and harvest 49 Black Bamboo in the Dark Bamboo Grove (-110, 260) to restore peace and tranquility to the forest. You should recruit some friends to help, as otherwise this quest will take a while to complete. Upon completion of the task, you will be automatically teleported back to the Elder of Mystery. Speak with him to obtain your next trial.

Fire Aggression

Within 2 hours, travel to Mount Clearwind in the Kunlun Mountains and defeat the Levitating Traveler (-380, 134). It is recommended to recruit a team of level 120+ players to help attack the Levitating Traveler. Upon completion of the task, you will be automatically teleported back to the Elder of Mystery. Speak with him to obtain your next trial.

Mountain Dweller

Finally, do battle with the creature Skyscream to prove your worth. Survive the encounter for 3 minutes without dying or leaving the area. Do not bother trying to kill the beast, for it is immortal and will be reborn within moments of being defeated. After you have lasted 3 minutes... CONGRATS! You will be automatically teleported back to the Elder of Mystery. Speak with him to unlock the full knowledge of your faction and master their abilities.
