Fishing Mastery - Jade Dynasty Wiki
Fishing Mastery
The Fishing Mastery is a daily event that gives talented fisherman the opportunity to show off their skills and the chance to attain greater rewards than they could from normal fishing. Players who've reached at least Level 45 and own a Fishing Certificate are qualified to participate.
The rewards for fishing during the fishing contest are far greater than during normal fishing. While participating you can catch fish that are worth quite a bit of money. You can also catch Scallops that contain random quests and Halfbeaks that can be traded with the Roaming Fisherman for Taichi Pills through a quest.
However, the fish that everyone is racing to catch, the main goal of this competition, and the two most precious fish in Jade Dynasty are the Moy fish and Tuna fish. If you catch one, you will receive a Gold or Silver Medal that can be traded for valuable prizes.
Requirements
To participate in Fishing Mastery you will need:
- A character Level 45 or above
- Fishing Certificate (obtain this from regular Fishing or buy it from other players)
- A good portion of luck
- At least 9-10 free spaces in your inventory
- 10-30 minutes of your time and a good amount of patience
Event Schedule / Getting Bait
Time: 6:00 pm. Realms: 1 through 5 only
Fishing Mastery is a daily event that only occurs on Realms 1 through 5, so be sure that you're on the correct realm or you'll miss out on it. The event starts at 06:00 p.m and lasts for exactly one hour. During that time you can use up your bait to reel in fish and/or items. If you have leftover bait, you can hold on to them to use next time. Make sure that you don't use any more bait if there's less than a minute left in the event, because there won't be enough time to use the rod before it disappears.
Just trade one Fishing Certificate to the Roaming Fisherman NPC (standing next to Ami in Sunstream City) for 10 Dragoncave Essence, which act as bait for the Fishing Mastery Event. Once the clock shows 6:00, you can trade in your Certificate for bait.
Event Location
The competition is held in The Billows, to the south of Laguna Collective. Multiple rods can be found near the small island where the river meets the lake. Expect a lot of competition for the rods, because there are a lot of players who want the rewards as much as you do!
How to Participate
First, right-click on the bait in your bag, and you will get a quest. You will need to click on a rod and wait for the bar to reach 100% before you can get your reward.
If you have trouble clicking on a rod because someone is standing on top of it, just shift-click on the rod to click through any players nearby. You will also need to click on the rods as soon as they appear to make sure you get the rod before anyone else does. Many players will learn the locations of the rods and begin rapidly shift-clicking before the rods have even appeared. Don't get frustrated if you don't get the rod, just be patient and wait for the next one.
If you were lucky and reeled in the Tuna or Moy Fish, be sure you are ready to turn it in at the Roaming Fisherman at 6:50 p.m. Only the first person to trade in the Moy Fish, or the first five people to trade in a Tuna Fish will receive a medal. If you aren't fast enough, you can only sell the fish to an NPC because its 10-hour duration will expire before the next fishing competition, and it has no other use.
Fishing Mastery Rewards

- Stoneback Herring: 35 Silver
- Cod: 50 Silver
- Doderleinia: 1 Gold
- Seven-Gil Eel: 1 Gold 50 Silver
- Snaky Fish: 3 Gold
- Situ Crab: 5 Gold
- Tuna Fish: 10 Gold (see quest list for further information)
- Moy Fish: 20 Gold (see quest list for further information)
- Zollow Lobster: 20 Gold
Quest items
- Moy Fish: Congratulations, you're the winner of the day -- at least, if you're the first one to trade it in to the Roaming Fisherman. You will get a Fishing Contest Gold Medal if you turn in this fish, and each Gold Medal you turn in during the same week will earn you better rewards. You can only turn in three Gold Medals per week.
- First Gold Medal: One Yasho Blood. Used to craft level 135 Celestial-quality gear.
- Second Gold Medal: Necklace of the Arbiter. A level 40 necklace with +1% Critstrike.
- Third Gold Medal: Necklace of Ascendancy. A level 70 necklace with +2% Critstrike.
- Tuna Fish: You just got a chance for second place in the Fishing Mastery event. The first 5 people who trade this fish in to the Roaming Fisherman in Sunstream City will obtain a Silver Medal, which you can trade in again for nice prizes. If you get more Silver Medals during one week, you'll get even better rewards from Roaming Fisherman.
- First Silver Medal: 10 Treasure Bowls. Trade these to Tonni for Esper Bloodsmelting Mediums.
- Second Silver Medal: 20 Treasure Bowls.
- Third Silver Medal: 30 Treasure Bowls.
- Scallop: Open this to get a random Voyage quest. There are 5 different quests you can obtain from Scallops, and upon completion you'll be rewarded with items and Taichi Pills, which are converted into experience points based on your current character level. The items you get out from Scallops are mainly used for obtaining titles and you will need to collect quite a few. Scallop Quest Guide
- Halfbeak: Give this strange fish to the Roaming Fisherman in exchange for 10 Taichi Pills, which are automatically converted into an amount of experience points based on your current level. You must turn in the Halfbeaks within 10 hours, or they will expire.
- Wonder Mediums: These can be traded in for Wonder Mediums at Taisung the Tao in Jadeon, but he will not be added to the game until the release of Ascension. Most people trash these immediately during the competition, but they will be very important later.
- Sonic Stone: You may be familiar with a system message regarding the Sonic Stone and the Yaksha Ranger, this is what is causing that announcement. The Sonic Stone will spawn an elite mob called the Yaksha Ranger in the shallow waters south of the event's fishing rods. He does little damage and is defeated quickly, but will drop large amounts of provisions for the person who did the most damage to him.
- Don't be surprised if others start to pick up the loot as well. After a short time has passed, the loot is opened up to everyone. There is so much of it, you wouldn't be able to pick it all up yourself before it disappears anyway.
- If you see your name displayed in the chat window that you've fished out the Sonic Stone, be quick and move to the Yaksha Ranger's spawnpoint. You probably will just pick up the leftovers, as there are usually a lot of players waiting nearby and other players are known to change realms just to pick up the dropped items.
