Essence

Essence is a type of Gear available to players. There are two types of Essence, Yin ★ and Yang ☆. Each has different attributes, but all require you to be level 105 to equip them. The Zodiac Essence, Cancer Essence, and the Libra Essence can be obtained from the Breezemark and Lunarshade Disciples near the Elder of Arcaneness in Jadeon. These Essences can be upgraded by crafting 3 lower level Essences into the next level Essence. The crafting recipes can be obtained from the Elder of Arcaneness in Jadeon.

TIPS: The Closed Star/Blue Essences (★) are commonly agreed to be better for PvP. The Open Star/Green Essences (☆) are viewed as better for PvE.

• ★ - Because the Closed/Blue Essences give hp/sp skill accuracy and evasion, dmg reduction in % form, they are better suited for fighting players.
• ☆ - The Open/Green Essences come with extra attack power, normal evasion and normal accuracy, and dmg reduction in set numbers instead of percentages. Set number reduction is better for ascended mobs who deal like +200 bonus dmg that defense can't reduce but dmg reduction can, where as the % dmg reduction for 200 dmg is lame, but can prevent several thousand damage from say a Jadeon's Obscura.

So when you start working on essences think about what you want to use it for. It's not uncommon for players to have both types of essences to at least Virgo, and swap them out for when they grind or fight other players.

Crafting Essence

This is a table of required Gold Leafs and Affinity needed to craft each Essence. The two columns on the left assume that you are starting crafting with a Zodiac Essence, while the two columns on the right assume you are starting with a Cancer Essence or a Libra Essence. As you can see, it is less expensive to start crafting with the Zodiac Essence rather than starting with the higher essences.

NOTE: When purchased, the Libra Essence costs 8,100 gold leaves and 67,500 affinity - the same amount it would take to craft directly from the Cancer Essence.
