Assimilating allows you to strengthen your Esper in various ways.

One aspect of this is that you can add faction skills to your esper, or even change the amount and type. You can get assimilation items such as Tawen Gems free when you open your Treasure Chest at certain levels. Otherwise, most of these items are sold in the Marketplace.

If you want to replace a random faction skill on your esper with a specific one, Guardian Tyr in Jadeon gives Esper Skill Scrolls in exchange for Secrets of Gem and Mysteries of Gem sold by Stashkeep Rubo.

The Esper Mystic also sells items that you can assimilate to increase the Esper’s attack, health, or spirit. Some monsters also have a chance to drop special mediums that you can assimilate.

Once you have one of these items, speak to the Esper Mystic and select the Assimilate option. Drag the Esper into the Esper slot, the item into the Medium slot, and click ‘Start’.

If you assimilate a stat-increasing item, the esper’s stats will have a bonus visible. You can do this multiple times, and the bonuses will stack. They will also remain through bloodsmelting and cleansing.

Note: Assimilating also removes the bound status of Espers. The bound Chi Bottle Esper from the Brocade Box becomes transferable after assimilation. --Scabies - The Billows
